How it works

From application to credential.

Five stages, typically eight to twelve weeks end to end. Each stage is documented in the portal so you always know where your application stands.

  1. Apply

Submit your application through the member portal. Upload qualifications, employment history, references, and evidence of impact. Pay the application fee online.

  2. Documents verified

Our administrators verify your qualifications, work history, and references. Incomplete applications are returned with specific guidance.

  3. Assessment

A committee of peer practitioners assesses your application against the designation rubric — qualifications, experience, transformation work, ethical standing.

  4. Interview

You meet the committee for a professional interview. They explore your management practice, decisions, and continuing development.

  5. Awarded

Your designation is registered with SAQA and recorded in the BMF designated practitioner directory. You receive your certificate and registration number.

Why BMF

A professional body — not a training provider.

A senior South African executive reviewing documents in transit.
  1. A management credential, not a course

BMF designations are awarded by a committee of peer practitioners after assessment and interview. They are not earned by attendance or examination alone. They recognise verified management practice over years — the work, not the workshop.

  2. Registered with SAQA

All three designations — CTP(SA), CTM(SA), and CTD(SA) — are registered with the South African Qualifications Authority and recorded on the National Learners' Records Database. Verification is public; the credential travels.

  3. Maintained through CPD

All three designations require 120 CPD points in a three-year cycle — earned through formal structured programmes, informal learning, and active management practice. CPD compliance is submitted annually; failure to submit results in suspension of the designation.

  4. Across South African sectors

342 designated practitioners work across financial services, public sector, mining, retail, manufacturing, energy, and professional services. The community is sectorally broad and demographically representative of South African management.

Ongoing practice

CPD is part of the commitment

A designation is maintained through Continuing Professional Development. All three tiers require 120 CPD points in a three-year cycle, drawn from structured programmes, informal learning, and active management practice. CPD logs are submitted annually by 31 March.
